CNA Courses – Prepare Yourself for the CNA Exam Questions

The journey of getting a CNA certifcation can be very exciting. There are many schools and colleges offering CNA courses. The course can last from four to twelve weeks depending on state requirements and regulations. The Federal government regulations insist that the course should be at least 75 hours. The content of the training will vary from one school to another. However, it should generally involve classroom training, working with mannequins and some sessions that include dealing with actual patients in a healthcare facility. This last part is conducted under the supervision of a Registered Nurse(RN).

After you complete the CNA training, you will need to take the Certified Nursing Exam. You are required to pass this exam withing 90 days of finishing the CNA course. The course program is designed to teach the ins and outs of becoming a CNA. In addition, the training should cover all that you need to pass your CNA exam. You will usually go through answers to most of the questions that you are going to come across in the test. You should always ask your insructor to exapnd on anything that you have not fully grasped.

You should keep in mind that the CNA requirements can vary from one state to another. However, the fundamentals are the same. As you might have expected, the test involves two parts: written and clinical. The written part of the test is where you are going to answer questions about some basic concepts and procedures. For this part, your textbooks and study notes are good to use for test preparation.

In the clinical or practical part of the exam, you will be required to perform three to five nursing assistant skills that you should have mastered through the training. You are going to perform these skills while a state examiner is watching over you. Among the skills that you could be examined for, we have: hand washing, privacy, providing a bed-pan, dignity, re-positioning a patient in their bed, taking a patient’s temperature, grooming, and completing a linen change with the patient still in bed.

To many of us, hand washing and privacy may appear like nothing but common sense. Nevertheless, they are a very important part of the CNA duties. Most communicable diseases can be avoided by proper hand washing which is why you may be tested for this skill. Anyone who works in the medical field knows how important it is to provide privacy and dignity to patients. These are some important duties of nursing assistants.

Good preparation will help you greatly during the test. Some candidates get nervous during some parts of the test. You can reduce your nervousness by practicing all the procedures that you have learned during the training on your own and with your classmates. Forming study groups is one of the best techniques that you use to better prepare for your CNA test. You can also find some useful study guides and practice tests online.

It is natural for people to get nervous during exams. The state examiner is aware of this and will watch how well you do when you are a stressful situation. It is important to be able to act properly when you are under pressure because pressure is an integral part of a CNA’s job.

You may be able to get a job as a CNA even without passing the CNA exam. Some health facilities may employ you upon completing your CNA course. However, they will usually require that you pass the CNA test within a specified timeframe if you would like to remain employed. In most states, you will get your exam result right after passing it. You also have the oportunity to re-take the test if you did not pass on your first try. There are regulations with respect to how many times you can take the test, the length of time between exam retaking and the cost to re-take the test.
